Rest Your Way to Peak Performance
In a fast paced society filled with stress it’s time to make time for you!

I know at this time of year everyone has their New Year’s resolutions, and they are eager to conquer new goals, change habits and prosper in ways they haven’t before. That is exactly why I feel it is important to start the year off with making you a priority. I want you to learn to rest.
rest for health and fitness performance
Now, when I say rest I mean time away from business, chores, jobs, errands etc. Rest is now your time to recover, restore and rejuvenate. Your ultimate rest time is at night when you are sleeping. If you are not sleeping well then you are robbing yourself of valuable rest time that is now creating havoc with your mind and body. What I really want to talk to you about is resting during the day. You all get caught up in all that is going on, and/or all that needs to get done and the next thing you know it is time for bed and you feel defeated.

Busyness will come at a high price my friends. The next thing you know your health will be jeopardized, and/or your marriage, and/or your relationships etc. Let’s start today and take time for ourselves. I think God knew what HE was doing when He made the seventh day a day of rest. Let’s take time to recover; recover from work, arguments, a jog, errands etc. I want you to recover from the mental and physical build up that is happening in your daily lives by taking a breather. It can be ten seconds or one hour. Learn to slow down and recover with adding positive things in your mind and body. I guarantee you that you will learn to make better decisions, operate at a higher capacity, and focus on what is more important in your lives.

“Researchers at Loughborough University’s Sleep Research Laboratory have found that people are designed for two sleeps a day-the main one at night and a nap in the afternoon. “ You will find that power naps will restore alertness and enhance your performance. “A study at NASA on sleepy military pilots and astronauts found that a forty-minute nap improved performance by 34 percent and alertness by 100 percent.” Naps will extend your alertness for a few hours later in the day as well. If a nap is not practical then taking a break and sitting in stillness and quiet for 20 minutes can also have a very beneficial effect.

Whether it is a power nap to restore your body and rest your mind or a time out for a breather, you need to recover, restore and you will rejuvenate your life!
