This past fall I was asked by Horleys to come to New Zealand and take part in their new promotional campaign for their elite line of products. I was honoured by the request and flew out there right after participating in this year’s Ms. Fitness World in Las Vegas.
Now, when I say right after I mean right after! I flew from Las Vegas where the Ms. Fitness Competition was held, straight to New Zealand, with a stopover in Los Angeles. I had to cut my time short in Vegas with my friends in order to make this flight, as there are not a lot of options flying to New Zealand. I was not too happy about missing time celebrating and spending time with friends that I rarely get to see. However, it’s not every day that you are asked to fly to New Zealand either. So I took what I could from my short Las Vegas experience and made my way to New Zealand for a few days of shooting pictures and video for Horleys.
Once in New Zealand I was very well greeted at the airport by Evan and his team representing Horleys. My first day was a day of rest, which was much needed. I had a chance to get to know Philip Ricardo Jr. who was one of the other athletes representing Horleys for this campaign. With a little extra time on my side I decided to go out and check out the stores in the area. I also took my time and really enjoyed their small but elegant and unique coffee shops. I think I made a few too many stops to those amazing cafes! (smile).
The following day was shoot day and it was amazing. Though it was a long day for me, and it was a lot of work and very demanding on my body. However, I was very excited to be there and to do what I was there for. I remember almost every single minute of tumbling, posing and smiling at the camera. After the first day of shooting I had a relaxing evening, and I was excited for the second day of shooting to begin.
The second day was dedicated for the team of us to shoot together. (Philip Ricardo Jr., Bren Foster and Myself). We also had to do some interviews as you can see on the www.biggerfitterfaster.com site and on the video page of www.inspiredbyvanda.com. The athletes and the Horleys team were all great to hang out with so it made for a fun day of work.
At the end of my trip to New Zealand, we celebrated our success with a very nice dinner together. Time went by quickly, and it was hard to leave New Zealand so soon. Many times I am anxious to get back home and start my regular routine, but I found myself wanting extra time to explore even a little more of New Zealand than I had a chance to do.
After a couple months of waiting to see how things turned out I was pleasantly surprised with biggerfitterfaster website by Evan. Evan and Horleys did a great job with the pictures and video. Some of the pictures will end up on advertising material in stores and magazines etc.
Thank you Horleys for inviting me, I had a great experience in New Zealand and working with your representatives. Let me know when you are ready for round two.
